Hawker Sea Hurricane
In 1941 the Royal Navy had an acute need to provide air cover for the Arctic Convoys headed to Russia. With escort carriers still under construction, the Catapult Armed Merchant ship was born, and the Sea Hurricane was the aircraft these vessels would carry.

Mostly ex-RAF Battle of Britain veterans, these Hurricanes were converted for naval use. Later as they were adapted for conventional carrier operations, they would be equipped with arrestor hooks and other navalised modifications.
